spi e. mouse had such a sweet personality. I bought her from Petsmart and soon on I found out she had a lot of physical problems, Her head tilted and she scratched uncontrolably. I took her to the vets numerous times with no avail. On her last visit to the vet's, the cheif vet took a look at her and said she is a C57BL6 mouse, which basically means she's a inbreed
strain of lab mouse. He said she showed all the symtoms, incurable itching etc. He put her on anit-depressants. Which helped a little but she died shortly after. I cannot tell you how difficult it was to watch her suffer. Yeah and the cost was in the hundreds. I am thankful that a young kid didn't pick her, I'd hate to think what kind of life she would have had. Petsmart needs to be more careful where they're getting their mice :o( She only lived a year. A special thanks goes to Lady Michaela for praying for my little spi e. mouse
A friend came over to my house and saw my mice and fell in love. She went back home to Idaho and bought 3 mice of her own from Petsmart. She had the same problems as I did but worse. She had to put one of them down because she was so bad. One of the other ones faught the other two so she had to give it back to Petsmart. It was an ongoing thing and caused so much pain and money.
This is bat e. mouse when I first got her with spi e. She seemed to do so much better than spi but later I found out she had problems of her own. She gets really bad nose bleeds, sneezing a lot of blood. When she got her first one about 6 mouths ago, I was carrying her out of her home to clean it and found blood spray all over my hand. It was a Sunday, the vets was not opened so Liam had to rush her to the urgent care animal hospital ($96 for that visit!). The vet said she had hypertension and to watch her. I bought her to my regular vet clinic and he said she probably is a C57BL6 but maybe not as bad as spi. She seems to be ok right now.
This is a more recent picture of little bat e. mouse. She's sooooo sweet and isn't afraid of me. She comes to the door of her house whenever she hears me around. Her favourite food is dried ramen. She squeeks and chirps really loud when she's happy, usually after receiving a little dried ramen noodle, and when she's being groomed or grooming herself. Sometimes I can hear her all the way in the other room.
This is Moonlight, she's just a wee baby mouse. I got her to keep bat e. company after spi died from another pet store (I'm boycotting Petsmart!). She's really fast and started annoying poor bat e. so I put her in another cage. I was going to return her and right before Liam was going to take her back to the pet store, I prayed for her with Liam. He looked into her cage and she was sitting on her purple igloo bedroom with her hands together (almost like she was praying....I'm not joking...it was weird!) and Liam said he doesn't feel right about taking her back. She was so sad being alone so he went to the pet store that day and bought her sister. She's such a nutty mouse, she can go around her entire cage really fast hanging onto the bars. She looks like she's shaking her fist at me in this pic above. She's only about 2 inches small :D
This is Renaissance, Ren for short, Moonlight's sister. She's still very shy, she runs away from me whenever she sees my hand or hears me near her house. Since Moonlight and bat e. wasn't getting along so well I thought I'd put her in bat e.'s cage some of the time to keep her company. I made a huge mistake the other night by trapping her and transporting her into bat e.'s house but then couldn't get her out. In the meantime, Moonlight was getting really depressed being alone. How can I tell when a mouse is getting depressed....trust me, when you've had mice as long as I have, you can tell. All night I tried to get her out but couldn't. Liam suggested to try to put all of them together and see how they do so now I have them all together in one home....less work but now I have so many mouse houses, it's insane. I'm praying they'll all get along.....it's been a stressful time for all of us.
